About

TINGE MAGAZINE

TINGE Magazine, Temple University’s online literary journal, is usually published twice a year, in the Spring (May) and in the Fall (December).

The journal is edited by the graduate students of Temple’s M.F.A. Program in Creative Writing. We have an open submission policy.

M.F.A. PROGRAM IN CREATIVE WRITING

Temple University offers an M.F.A. degree in Creative Writing, with a focus on either fiction or poetry.

The writing component of the two-year M.F.A. degree features small, intensive workshops in poetry or fiction, supplemented in the second year by one-on-one tutorials with resident faculty. Students engage in the historical and formal study of the genres of fiction and poetry by choosing from a selection of graduate courses in English and American literature.

The curriculum includes special topics classes in creative writing, courses in the craft of fiction and poetry, and a creative thesis in the second year. A series of readings from prominent visiting writers and intensive week-long consultations with writers-in-residence augment the coursework.

A limited number of fellowships and teaching assistantships are available. The deadline for application is December 15 for consideration for financial aid, and February 1 for final admission.

Fiction Faculty: Mary Gaitskill, Don Lee, Joan Mellen, and Alan Singer
